Dying to Myself

aids500

Dec. 1st; World AIDS day

I live in sin, dying to myself I live;
Life is no longer mine, but belongs to sin;
My good is from heaven, my evil I give to myself,
From my own unbound will, which has been stolen from me.
My freedom is a slave, my divinity has made itself
Mortal.
Oh, unhappy state!
To what misery, to what life I’ve been born!

Michelangelo, Unfinished sonnet

Rise Up

Nemesis: Jacob and Joshua

He was a friend of mine
He was a friend of mine
Every time I think about him now
Lord I just can’t keep from cryin’
‘Cause he was a friend of mine

Daring Britishers

George Michael and Kenny Goss

My American Angel, he doesn’t want to fight (doesn’t need to fight)
My U.S of Angel, holds me in the dead of night
Takes away that fear that I carried forever
You stopped to wipe away my tears
And you stayed forever and more

Follow John

Elton John and David Furnish

Don’t you know I’m still standing better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I’m still standing after all this time

Wrestlers look a certain way

“I like devastation. I like exhaustion. I really like seeing someone that I know can’t barely get up.
“There never seems to be a wide range of emotional definitions of men. And I think in wrestling you really see so many different emotions, so many different reactions and interactions.”
“A theme of twinship has always run through my work, of people that look alike. And that was another reason I was drawn to wrestling because I feel like wrestlers look a certain way.”

Horizon of Expectation

Adi Nes

Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him. When He came to the place, He said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” And He was withdrawn from them about a stone’s throw, and He knelt down …

Camaraderie

“The thin line between homo-social and homo-erotic in army life can be so confusing and torturous for a gay soldier. Soldiers hug and kiss each other, say “I love you brother” to each other, sleep together – sometimes lean on each others’ chests, sometimes share a tiny mattress, have communal showers where they play “boy games” like throwing water and soap on each other, sometimes share a hot shower, sometimes masturbate together.”

You are a gift to god

“In a very real sense the soul of the LGBT community has been torn from the inside out. It laments that people whom others identify as not being “masculine” or “feminine” enough for whatever reason again stand on the outside looking in.” ENDA’s end is not here.

We Two

WE two boys together clinging,
One the other never leaving,
Up and down the roads going, North and South excursions making,
Power enjoying, elbows stretching, fingers clutching,
Arm’d and fearless, eating, drinking, sleeping, loving.
No law less than ourselves owning, sailing, soldiering, thieving,
threatening,
Misers, menials, priests alarming, air breathing, water drinking, on
the turf or the sea-beach dancing,
Cities wrenching, ease scorning, statutes mocking, feebleness
chasing,
Fulfilling our foray.

Walt Whitman, 1900. Leaves of Grass.

"Freedom means freedom for everyone."
